Edinburgh has many layers.
Doesn't this street look straight and harmless? Don't be mistaken. It is a bridge, the South Bridge.
In a distance few hundred yards, you can see the levels of this town in all perspectives. Like all cities that were built on steep hills, you can see ramps or direct access over staircases. The "closes", the side lanes, starting at the Royal Mile, were cliffy. Climbing must be a natural talent of Edinburgh people.
