This book on Estonian craft is not only about knitting, but also weaving, embroidery, sewing. The coloured pictures are painted, which obviously was cheaper than colour photography -- and often shows the stitches more clearly. Many patterns are given in black&white which means that all colours are described by symbols like squares, triangles and small circles.
